PHILOSOPHY OF TEACHER TEACHING FOREIGN LANGUAGE

I ‘m a student FKIP Nommensen. I chose english department. When I’m in senior high school, I really did not  like English lesson because in my mind that the English lesson is very difficult  but I really want to learn English and want to change my mindset was. I’m a English teacher candidate. In the future, I will be a teacher of English.
A teacher is a person who helps the learners to the right way, who is the guide for learners.I know many students don’t like english because teacher didn’t give the right way. As a teacher shouid be the person who changes all “students can’t” into “students can”. A teacher is a role model for students, not only impart knowledge related to books but also instills good values,moral and character. In total a teacher is the one who can bring change in behaviour of students. In the reality many teacher didn’t good teaching in the class room. We know teaching is the process of attending to people’s needs, experiences and feelings, and making specific interventions to help them learn particular things. As a teacher not lazy to give knowledge and always be patient to teach  students.  In the past, I didn’t know many language. I just speak indonesian language in daily activities. We know Language is Communication of thoughts and feelings through a system of arbitrary signals, such as voice sounds, gestures, or written symbols. So teacher should know language learning as seen today is not communicative. It is the result of direct instruction in the rules of language. And it certainly is not an age-appropriate activity for young learners – as it is not for adults either. In language learning, students have conscious knowledge of the new language and can talk about that knowledge. I think purpose of studying language is communication. It's mean I can understand what the native say and they do too. Teacher needs some key to support them of teaching language. Such as : Know their students : to increase their understanding of who their students are, their backgrounds and educational experiences, Be aware of their social and emotional needs : to understanding more about the students' families and their needs is key, increase teacher understanding of first and second language acquisition: although courses about second language acquisition are not required as part of teacher education programs, understanding the theories about language acquisition and the variables that contribute to language learning may help teacher to teach more effectively. Teacher Know the language of content : English has a number of polysemous words. Once a student learns and understands one meaning of a word, other meaning may not be apparent. Review the vocabulary of your content area often and check to assure they know the words and possibly the multiple meanings associated with the words. For example, a "plot" of land in geography class versus the "plot" in a literature class. A "table" we sit at versus a multiplication "table."
And then teacher  will need the ability to use body gestures and signs effectively. Many students find that they learn a new language better when they are forced to speak only English in the classroom. By refusing to use your student's native language, teacher force them to learn English by first using your body language and gestures to teach them new words, and then using what they've learned to build even more knowledge.
            Many students don’t know english clearly. They aren’t master enough of english. In this period,student should be learning foreign language because as we know MEA (Masyarakat Ekonomi ASEAN) is coming soon. Students must have skill to speak english well. Students are learning foreign language which that is to know another language to communication and to support cooperation with other country. The student need way to learning foreign language. Teacher as fasilitator should prepare theirself to give appropriate materials.
